MATT WEIGAND/Bulletin Gonzaga's Georgia Stirton (5) drives to the hoop against BYU defenders during the first quarter of play in the McCarthey Athletic Center. The Zags beat the Cougars 73-55 on senior night.
GU was outscored 18-12 in the third quarter, and was down by two to start the final period, but ended it on a 33-13 push in the fourth, giving the Zags a decisive 18-point victory.
BYU had won 16 games in a row with its only West Coast Conference loss coming at the hands of San Diego on Dec. 23.
“If we could do that every time I would take 33 points in any quarter, any game,” head coach Lisa Fortier said.
