Georgia led UMass 35-10 with 2:22 remaining in the second quarter. The Bulldogs faced third-and-6 at their own 43-yard line.
A Georgia special teams snafu in the first quarter enabled UMass to keep the score close at 14-7, but the Bulldogs proceeded to outscore the Minutemen 21-3 before the third-and-6 play. Starting at the end of the first quarter, freshman quarterback Justin Fields saw significant snaps in relief of Jake Fromm.
