Texas A&M football coach Jimbo Fisher will be inducted into the Samford Athletics Hall of Fame this weekend in Birmingham, Alabama. Fisher was a record-setting quarterback for Samford in 1987, passing for a school-record 2,394 yards. He also set school single-season records for total offense (2,631 yards) and touchdown passes (34). Fisher was the NCAA Division III National Player of the Year.
Fisher began his coaching career at Samford from 1988-92. He helped the squad reach the 1991 and 1992 NCAA Division I-AA (now FCS) playoffs.
