In their best all-around game of the season, the Zags dominated St. Mary’s from the opening tip to reestablish their place as the WCC’s premier team with a 78-65 win.
The Zags started aggressively hitting their first three shots, all three-pointers, then showed their strategy to shutdown St Mary’s; always double team Landale. Jock Landale didn’t get his first score until 8:34 in the first half and that was on a sprint down the floor. Landale, having his worst game of the year, was held to 4 points on just 4 shots. His primary partner in crime, Emmett Naar, was held to only 5 points on 2 for 9 shooting and more impressively only 2 assists.
