BLACKSBURG – When junior quarterback Ryan Willis walks up to the line of scrimmage these days, he’s got a pretty strong grasp of what he’s seeing. That’s a far cry from his first year in college football, when he started as a true freshman at Kansas.
“I walk out there, Ok, I go, ‘Free, strong, go,’” Willis said. “Freshman year I was like, where are they?’”
So when Willis stepped behind center on second-down-and-8 in the third quarter of Saturday’s Virginia Tech spring game, knowing the play call and seeing the defense, he had a pretty good idea of what was about to go down.
