GREEN BAY — If Aaron Rodgers is intent on changing the way NFL contracts are structured — and there remain indications he is — then the Green Bay Packers’ franchise quarterback’s impending contract extension might not be right around the corner after all.
Despite both the Packers and Rodgers having said repeatedly that they’d like to get a new contract in place — and the Packers’ front office saying it wanted to get something done this offseason — the team and agent David Dunn still have not agreed to a deal.
And throughout the process, multiple NFL sources have said Rodgers would like to alter the way NFL contracts are structured, using his star power and importance to the franchise to lead to meaningful change that swings the negotiating pendulum at least a bit toward players and away from ownership.
