With a day and a half left before the new league year starts on March 14, the New Orleans Saints and quarterback Drew Brees are reportedly making progress on his next contract.
A flurry of reports introduced the potential of other teams' interest in Brees on Monday, but Brees has said all along that he planned to play for the Saints, and the team has reciprocated.
The problem has been the particulars.
According to ESPN's Dianna Russini, the Saints and Brees are working on a two-year deal, which would keep the New Orleans QB locked up through the 2019 season, when Brees will be 40.
