Pitching woes doom Gonzaga Baseball, as it falls to SMC 3-14

The pitching stumbled for the second worst performance by a starter on the year, as Saint Mary's downed Gonzaga 14-3 Friday afternoon. Starting pitcher Eli Morgan gave up eight earned runs on 12 hits with four strikeouts and two walks. He threw 114 pitches, but only 69 for strikes.

It was the second-most runs allowed – the most since Morgan gave up nine to Arkansas – and the most hits (12) allowed all season.

After giving up two runs in the first on a two-run home run from Anthony Villa, Morgan settled down and faced only 13 batters in four innings allowing only one batter to reach base.
