Norfolk's Lane McCallum chases dreams as Nebraska walk-on after transferring from Air Force

Lane McCallum graduated from Norfolk High in 2017, wanted to play football at the highest level possible and pursued an opportunity at Air Force.

But McCallum left Air Force after a semester as a kicker and will join Nebraska's football program as a walk-on for spring football.

"The past couple days I have been filling out paperwork and (Nebraska) finally said I am on the roster," McCallum said.

McCallum — 6-foot-2, 205 pounds — played multiple positions at Norfolk, including linebacker and running back. He will start out as a safety at Nebraska.

"They want me as a safety, and I'm happy with that," McCallum said.
