Nebraska linebacker Breon Dixon has been granted a waiver to compete immediately for the Huskers.
Dixon will have three seasons of eligibility remaining after transferring from Mississippi. Dixon had eight total tackles, including two for loss, in the Husker spring game last month.
An NU spokesman said in April the Huskers would expedite the waiver request for Dixon. He's one of several former Ole Miss players that were declared immediately eligible, including Michigan quarterback Shea Patterson.
At 5-foot-11 and 206 pounds, Dixon is NU’s shortest linebacker, and he’s more like a hybrid athlete who can get out in space and cover tight ends and receivers or rush the passer.
