The highest-rated prospect to sign with Nebraska since 2011, receiver Tyjon Lindsey didn’t make a splash as a true freshman in 2017. In NU’s pro-style offense, he caught 12 passes for 76 yards and ran seven times for four yards. He returned one kickoff for 17 yards. Mastering the playbook was one hurdle. Consistent blocking was another.
Lindsey then landed in the headlines this winter for being one of two players who suffered from rhabdomyolysis after the Huskers’ first conditioning workout after a long break.
But Lindsey has recovered from that hospital stay, and NU offensive coordinator Troy Walters — who doubles as wide receivers coach — sees Lindsey’s potential in a spread, no-huddle offense.
