In a letter dated April 19, 2018, Missouri athletic director Jim Sterk informed Yolanda Kumar — the former MU math and statistics tutor who claimed that she assisted in helping athletes commit academic fraud starting in November of 2016 — that MU’s investigation found that she had in fact provided impermissible academic benefits to student-athletes while at the university.
Copied on the letter were MU chancellor Alexander Cartwright, university counsel Steve Owens, faculty athletics representative Pamela Hinton and associate ADs for compliance Mary Austin and Mitzi Clayton.
“The investigation has revealed, and you acknowledged during your interview with the NCAA, that you provided impermissible academic benefits to enrolled student-athletes,” Sterk wrote in the letter Kumar posted on Twitter on Tuesday.
