Less than a year after hiring him, Michigan awarded coach Dusty May with a multi-year contract extension to stave off any chance that his alma mater might pursue him this offseason. Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel announced the contract Friday before the 12th-ranked Wolverines hosted No. 14 Michigan State with first place in the Big Ten on the line. The Spartans (22-5, 13-3) posted a 75-62 victory over the Wolverines (20-6, 12-3) to take sole possession of first place in the Big Ten. "(May's) commitment to this university and the success of the men's basketball program has far exceeded our expectations and makes us all excited for what the future holds," Manuel said in a statement.
