Men's basketball: Gonzaga drops first conference game of the season in loss to Saint Mary's

When they were needed most, the departed Przemek Karnowski and Zach Collins weren't going to stroll into McCarthey Athletic Center, plop down on the bench and wait for head coach Mark Few to call their number.

A season ago, Karnowski and Collins forced Saint Mary's star Jock Landale into foul trouble in each matchup, shelving the big man to the bench and limiting his contributions. But on Thursday, Landale scored 26 points on 12-of-15 shooting and grabbed 12 rebounds.

"He's easily the most efficient low-post player in college basketball," Few said of Landale, who came into Thursday's game shooting 65.
