BATON ROUGE, La. – Freshman right-hander Ma'Khail Hilliard earned the win in his first career SEC start Sunday, and centerfielder Zach Watson collected three hits and two RBI as No. 16 LSU defeated No. 24, Missouri, 7-5, in Alex Box Stadium, Skip Bertman Field.
With the win, LSU moved to 14-7 (2-1 SEC) on the season and Missouri fell to 15-5 (1-2 SEC). Sunday’s win clinched an SEC series victory for LSU on the opening weekend of conference play.
The Tigers will return to action on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. for a matchup against the Tulane Green Wave in the final game of the Tigers’ current eight-game homestand.
