LSU offensive lineman Donavaughn Campbell's trial for battery begins in Atlanta

A jury trial for LSU offensive lineman Donavaughn Campbell was scheduled to start Monday in Fulton County State Court in Atlanta over charges from his arrest last April, according to a court clerk.

Campbell, a Ponchatoula native, was charged in November of 2016 with two counts of battery, both misdemeanors, connected to a fight at a Georgia Tech fraternity house during LSU's open week. Campbell pleaded not guilty in a hearing last fall, and he was originally scheduled for a non-jury trial in December.

The jury trial was set to start Monday, said a Fulton County State Court clerk, reading from the case file.
