Missouri senior Megan Cunningham blew the competition out of the water to claim the 10,000-meter title at the Southeastern Conference Outdoor Championships on Friday in Knoxville, Tennessee.
Cunningham finished with a time of 33:47.05 — more than a minute faster than second-placed McKenzie Yanek of Alabama.
The win continues a remarkable comeback for the senior. In 2015, Cunningham suffered a broken neck and multiple skull fractures in a car accident. This year, she has won the women's 5000 SEC indoor title and warmed up for Friday's victory by winning the 10,000 at the Drake Relays.
The championships will continue Saturday, with Karissa Schweizer set for action in both the 1,500 and the 5,000.
