A Missouri recruit and a Missouri target were named Gatorade Player of Year in their respective states.
Torrence Watson, a senior from Whitfield High School, was named Missouri Gatorade Player of the Year. Watson averaged 31 points per game along with 6.7 rebounds and 2.8 assists this season. He was a four-time Class 3 all-state honoree and finished his high school career with 2,755 points.
Gatorade honors players for their work off the court, as well. The Whitfield guard is an active parishioner of People's Community Christian Church, an instructor at Whitfield Summer Basketball camp, and donates to charitable initiatives like No One Hungry Thanksgiving program.
