Kansas State has lost every significant piece of its special teams since the end of last season.
Gone is placekicker Matthew McCrane, the school’s all-time leader in field goals made (57), field goal percentage (86.4) and extra point percentage (99.3) as well as consecutive field goals made (16) and consecutive extra points made (105).
Gone is punter Nick Walsh, an All-Big 12 second-team selection who ranked third in K-State’s annals for career punting average (42.34).
Gone too are the Wildcats’ top two returners in D.J. Reed and Byron Pringle. All Reed did was rank second in the FBS in both punt return average (14.
