With the first pick on Day 3 of the 2018 NFL Draft, Marty Hurney walked into the Carolina Panthers war room on Saturday morning knowing exactly what he wanted to do.
The Panthers general manager needed a tight end, and to get one, Hurney focused on former Hoosier Ian Thomas.
Carolina selected Thomas at the start of the fourth round, making him the highest drafted tight end in IU program history.
“We think he can be a complete tight end,” Hurney said.
