Juniors Grace Rosas and Emilio Moreno took a leap of faith when they signed to play tennis for Gonzaga University three years ago, leaving behind the comfort of their hometown Mexicali, Mexico, for the sometimes snowy terrain of Spokane.
Until they visited, both had never even heard of the Eastern Washington city, yet knew that their desert origins would provide some challenges. However, language barriers and a new culture proved no match for these two on and off of the court with both making an impact on their teams.
The decision to attend GU came with a multitude of questions, yet a main answer for both came in the form of each other, ultimately influencing both to venture beyond the familiar.
