Gonzaga's Yvonne Ejim receives national, conference-level recognition

Following a record-breaking season and a road win over Santa Clara for a share of the West Coast Conference regular season title, Gonzaga University’s Yvonne Ejim received national- and conference-level recognition.

Voted by the league’s 11 head coaches, Ejim was named the WCC Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year for the second-straight season, a feat that hasn’t been done since former GU standout Courtney Vandersloot’s three-peat from 2008-2011.

Ejim was also named WCC Player of the Week five times this season, totaling 14 times in her career.

Nationally, Ejim was listed as one of five finalists for the Katrina McClain Power Forward of the Year, awarded by the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame.
