The Gonzaga women’s soccer team scored a last-minute equalizer to salvage a 1-1 draw with Loyola Marymount at Luger Field on Wednesday night.
The Zags (12-3-2, 5-1-1 WCC) played an aggressive game offensively, taking 30 shots with eight shots on goal. LMU (6-9-3, 0-4-3 WCC) focused on playing a defensive game, only taking three shots.
The Zags opened the match on the attack, taking two shots in the first five minutes of play. They maintained possession in their offensive half for most of the first 15 minutes, but many of the shots were not on target.
At the 17th minute mark, forward Giana Riley dribbled down the line and took a shot from just outside the 18-yard box that skimmed the top of the crossbar, going just over the net and granting LMU a goal kick.
