Gonzaga set to renew intrastate rivalry with UW

In 2014, the two teams agreed to a renewed four-game series. Next season, the Zags will play in at the Huskies’ home arena, Alaska Airlines Arena at Hec Edmundson Pavilion in Seattle, as part of the agreement.

The reasons for the cancellation of the in-state rivalry are not publicly known. The two never officially gave a reason why the series was cancelled, but both sides have expressed some opinions.

UW ended the series after the 2006-2007 season, citing a wish to play other teams. But that was only part of the reason.

UW head coach Lorenzo Romar came on board before the 2002.
