The Gonzaga men’s basketball team has opened with a 5-0 record for the first time since the 2021-22 season, silencing doubts about whether Mark Few’s squad has what it takes to compete for a national championship.

While there are countless metrics that highlight the Bulldogs’ early-season dominance, among the most prominent is their top-3 placement in Ken Pomeroy’s (KenPom) advanced analytical rating system.

KenPom rankings, established in 2002, have become one of the most trusted and insightful tools for evaluating college basketball teams. These rankings are based on a team’s overall net rating, which combines adjusted offensive efficiency (points scored per 100 possessions, adjusted for opponent quality) and adjusted defensive efficiency (points allowed per 100 possessions, also adjusted for opponent quality).
