For the 20th straight year, GU won its WCC season opener as the Bulldogs (8-3, 1-0) thrashed Pepperdine 99-73 (7-5, 0-1) on Monday night in the McCarthey Athletic Center.
“I thought our guys did fantastic tonight,” head coach Mark Few said. “This was a short preparation game. I elected to really rest them yesterday. We just did a walkthrough and mentally went over some stuff. And they responded great to that.”
The Bulldogs shook off some shooting cobwebs, making 55.9 percent of their shots and 61.5 percent of their 3-pointers.
The Zags jumped out to a 27-6 lead to start the game and shot 78.
