It was another upset-filled week in college basketball, but Gonzaga escaped unscathed and moved up two spots to No. 6 in Monday’s Associated Press Top 25 poll.
The Zags (16-3, 5-0 WCC) defeated BYU in Provo, UT., on Thursday and Portland at home on Saturday.
GU’s win over BYU came in dramatic fashion, as the Zags were down 74-72 with 15 seconds remaining before Julian Strawther nailed a go-ahead 3-pointer from the top of the key.
After calling a timeout, BYU’s hopes of an upset ended with a heavily-contested missed jumper from Spencer Johnson as the buzzer sounded and GU won 75-74.
