Gonzaga baseball opens WCC slate with series win over Pepperdine

Gonzaga University baseball continued its hot form into the start of the West Coast Conference season, picking up two wins in a three-game series against Pepperdine.

Despite Friday’s 3-2 defeat, the Zags responded on Saturday and Sunday, prevailing 5-2 and 3-2, respectively. GU's dominant pitching and clutch hitting from Sam Stem and Tommy Eisenstat proved the deciding factor in the series.

The Zags (8-13, 2-1 WCC) held the upper hand for most of the three games against Pepperdine, which proved to be low scoring, as Saturday’s contest required an extra inning home run from Stem to clinch a Zags win.
