Gabriel: With improved supporting cast, onus falls on Eli Manning to revive Giants

Along with the Browns' John Dorsey, New York Giants GM Dave Gettleman was hired before the end of the 2017 season, giving him a head start in hiring a new head coach and getting a little better overview of what Big Blue needed to do.

After hiring the Minnesota Vikings offensive coordinator, Pat Shurmur, as head coach, Gettleman got to business in revamping the Giants roster that had weaknesses in many areas. The first order of business was restructuring the offensive line, one of the worst in football.

When free agency began, the Giants quickly signed former New England Patriot Nate Solder to play left tackle.
