Dave Humm, the former Husker All-American and Heisman Trophy finalist, died Tuesday night. He was 65.
Humm died from complications of multiple sclerosis. He was diagnosed with the disease in 1988 and had been confined to a wheelchair since 1997.
Humm, who grew up in Las Vegas and shined in multiple sports at Bishop Gorman High School, was Nebraska's star quarterback in the early 1970s. The Huskers went 27-7-2 over three seasons with Humm at quarterback from 1972-74.
He finished his NU career with one national record, four Big Eight records and 12 Nebraska records.
Humm became Nebraska’s starting quarterback as a sophomore in 1972.
