For the Borland family, there’s not a more fitting fund-raising opportunity than Pat’s Run on Saturday in Tempe, Ariz.
The 4.2-mile race is named in honor of Pat Tillman, the former four-year NFL veteran who left the league to join the U.S. Army following the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. He died in 2004 from a friendly fire incident in Afghanistan.
Chris Borland, who retired from the NFL following his rookie season with the San Francisco 49ers due to fear of long-term brain damage, will run alongside his two military brothers, Captain Joe Borland and Major John Borland, to raise funds for After the Impact, an organization that pairs military veterans with NFL retirees.
