In an opening night clash between two high-powered offenses, the ball was only rolling the way of the Zags.
No. 6 Gonzaga University men’s basketball (1-0) recorded its largest-ever win over a top-10 opponent, beating the No. 8 Baylor Bears (0-1) 101-63 in its season opener at the Spokane Arena.
All but one player who appeared for the Zags scored a basket in a signature win for the program. Nolan Hickman was the top scorer for GU on the night, contributing 17 points and six rebounds while shooting 7-for-11 from the field.
“Just remarkable, man,” Hickman said of GU’s performance and the atmosphere in the arena.
