Gonzaga University women’s basketball defeated the visiting Rice University Owls, winning 72-69 in a Thursday night matchup at the McCarthey Athletic Center.
In a back-and-forth game that featured 12 lead changes, fifth-year Yvonne Ejim finished as the top scorer on the night for the Zags, totaling 20 points and 11 rebounds in a double-double effort. Hailey Adams was Rice’s leading scorer against GU, posting 20 points and nine rebounds.
“We had our hands full,” said GU head coach Lisa Fortier. “We had some trial and error, and we saw success. I think we shot it better and we defended better.
