COLUMBIA, MO. • For the first time since he became Barry Odom’s choice to take over the Missouri offense, new coordinator and quarterbacks coach Derek Dooley met with local reporters on Friday, alongside his new boss.
A few takeaways …
1. This isn’t the same guy who left Tennessee with a 15-21 record as the Volunteers’ head coach.
Dooley showed only glimpses of his folksy Southern charm and instead had the look and sound of a coach who’s driven to prove he can coach at this level. Getting fired from a top job in the SEC — the same conference where his father, Vince, became a legend at Georgia — left Dooley with an edge that he he's ready to sharpen.
