Former Kansas State head football coach Jim Dickey (kneeling, center) died Sunday at the age of 84. He coached the Wildcats from 1978 to 1985, leading the school to its first bowl game in 1982.

Kansas State University lost a great one over the weekend with the passing of Jim Dickey. He’d been living in Houston and was five weeks shy of his 84th birthday.
No one who has donned Kansas State colors has ever done so with more dignity and likeability than the Wildcats’ football coach from 1978 to 1985.
