Dain Dainja registered a double-double with 22 points and 12 rebounds, and too-seeded Memphis pulled away for an 84-72 win over UAB to win the American Athletic Conference tournament on Sunday afternoon in Fort Worth, Texas. P.J. Haggerty scored a team-high 23 points for No. 16 Memphis (29-5), which secured an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Colby Rogers added 15 points. Yaxel Lendeborg scored 19 points and pulled down 17 rebounds to lead third-seeded UAB (22-12). Efrem Johnson finished with 17 points to go along with six rebounds. Memphis reached the NCAA Tournament for the third time in the past four seasons under head coach Penny Hardaway.
