Josh Perkins' shot is contested by Eric Mika. The Zags suffered their first loss of the season, 79-71 against BYU Saturday in the McCarthey Center.
But it was not to be.
BYU upset No. 1 GU 79-71, leaving the Zags with a single blemish on an otherwise perfect season. Twenty-nine wins, one loss.
“BYU deserves a lot of credit, they played us tough, played us physical, made some big shots and some big plays down the stretch and we didn’t,” head coach Mark Few said.
The Cougars have spoiled senior night for GU before, including a nail-biting 73-70 victory during the 2014-2015 season, but handing GU its lone loss of a potential undefeated season, was a much bigger blow.
