Just in time for the College World Series, Omaha police are getting a new mobile command unit, the RV-like vehicle that officers work out of during the two-week event.
Police use the vehicle during emergencies, natural disasters and high-traffic events such as the CWS, which starts June 16. But the current command center is 18 years old and its technology is outdated.
“We’ve outgrown the old one in both size and technology for all the events we run now,” said Lt. Jay Leavitt, who has overseen the project for the Police Department.
The new vehicle was built by the MacQueen Emergency Group.
