Bill Haisten: Sellouts now common, but not for 47-game streak Sooners

It’s common knowledge that Oklahoma has sold out every home football game since the start of the 1999 season.

When the UCLA Bruins challenge the sixth-ranked Sooners on Saturday, the game will be witnessed by OU’s 118th consecutive sellout crowd.

It’s not even close to being college football’s longest current streak. That distinction belongs to Nebraska and its 361-game streak that began in 1962.

The Sooner streak, however, is by far the longest in program history.

Until a 33-minute phone conversation with Mike Brooks, I wasn’t aware of the big-picture significance of the Sooner streak.
