Bowling Green State University football coach Mike Jinks announced the hiring of Jacob Schoonover to be the team's linebackers coach on Friday.
Schoonover takes over for Matt Brock, who left to become the special teams coordinator at Washington State last month.
Schoonover rounds out Bowling Green's positional coaching staff. He is the final piece to a defensive staff that was entirely replaced after last season.
Brock, safeties coach Ryan Downard and cornerbacks coach Mike Mickens all left for other jobs, while Perry Eliano was not brought back as defensive coordinator.
Schoonover comes to Bowling Green after serving as linebackers coach at Illinois State since 2011, he also took over as special teams coordinator in 2012.
