Sophomore quarterback Zach Smith confirmed Wednesday that he is planning to transfer from Baylor.
Smith had no further comment and Baylor coach Matt Rhule couldn’t be reached for comment. But the loss of Smith will leave Baylor with one scholarship quarterback on the roster, freshman Charlie Brewer.
After replacing graduate transfer quarterback Anu Solomon in the third game, Smith started six games for the Bears this season and hit 52.2 percent of his passes for 1,471 yards and eight touchdowns with eight interceptions.
When Smith suffered a shoulder injury, Brewer replaced him in the starting lineup for the last four games.
