Todd Van Emst/AU AthleticsAUBURN — Auburn’s coaches would prefer and likely won’t go into fall preseason camp with six players battling for the starting tailback job.
Auburn offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey said the best case scenario would be to cut that current candidate list in half by the time fall camp opens in August, but he isn’t sure that will get accomplished by the end of the A-Day spring game on April 7.
“I think you are going to try to have at least two or three guys who have maybe separated themselves,” Lindsey said Thursday in his first media session this spring.
