TUSCALOOSA — Alabama added a veteran presence to an overhauled special teams unit.
Temple graduate transfer place-kicker Austin Jones committed to the Crimson Tide on Monday evening, announcing the decision on Instagram following a campus visit over the weekend.
The Owls’ starting place-kicker and kickoff specialist from 2014-16, Jones finished his Temple career as the program’s fourth-leading scorer. He finished his junior season 10-for-12 on field goals and made all 23 extra point attempts.
During that 2016 season, he established a program record with 19 straight field goals made before tearing his ACL while helping cover a kickoff against Memphis.
