For football fans, Saturdays during the early fall days are now reserved for watching other collegiate programs across the country hit each other all over the field while the memories of Gonzaga football are left for the archives and to the minds of the handful who were able to witness them.
For one man, Gonzaga football holds a special place in his heart. One of the few remaining people to have ever seen the football team play, Jack Stockton, born in 1927, was at the final game and remembers the day the football team was officially dismantled.
Stockton said it was a sad day for both the current and existing players and for the fans who expected to see their Zags play in Gonzaga Stadium.
