TUSCALOOSA — In the days following the NCAA and SEC decisions to cancel all remaining spring sports events through the end of the 2019-20 academic calendar due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Alabama athletics director Greg Byrne has had plenty on his mind.
First has been the emotional toil on the many Crimson Tide athletes who have been sidelined, especially seniors who are uncertain if they've played their last game in an Alabama uniform.
There's a hit to Alabama's financial picture, too, as Byrne and his staff are dealing with an undetermined deficit caused by the mass cancellations, including the NCAA basketball tournaments, which brings in cash to all schools.
