The 2016 British Open is held at Royal Troon Golf Club in Troon, Scotland from July 14th to July 17th. The 145th edition of the tournament will be televised on the Golf Channel and NBC this year. But for those of you unable to watch on live TV, we’ve put together a list of the best free live streams out there:
Golf Channel Online Stream
A TV simulcast will be up on The Golf Channel's website for all four days. Of course, you will need a cable provider username and password.
The Open Website
The British Open Website (theopen.com) is also streaming the event. It's the simplest route, and it's free. Plus, you'll get the actual British announcers.
Those options are the safest routes, but there is the alternative streaming route. But first, a note...
Don't download anything from any of these sites. Some have very creative pop-ups that tell you to download a video player to watch, or that your player is out of date. That isn't true, and none of these streams require anything other than Flash (which 99.9 percent of you have on your computer already). Also, AdBlock helps.
Disclaimer: Chat Sports does not encourage the illegal streaming of games, but we’re not naive enough to pretend that it doesn’t happen. Stream at your own risk (and don’t download anything from these sites – it’s like the Wild West out there).
