Zalatoris (appendectomy) WDs from AT&T Byron Nelson; Connelly in

IRVING, Texas – Will Zalatoris, the reigning U.S. Junior Amateur champion, pulled out of the AT&T Byron Nelson on Monday and was replaced by another young Texan, Austin Connelly.

This one had to hurt. Zalatoris, who made his Tour debut earlier this year at the Northern Trust Open, woke up Monday complaining of severe pain in his abdomen. The Wake Forest University freshman was taken to the hospital and underwent an emergency appendectomy.

Zalatoris' mother, Catherine, told Golfweek at 2 p.m. Central that the laparoscopic surgery went well and that Zalatoris was expected to arrive in his room soon.
