Zach Johnson brings Claret Jug to junior tournament

Among those players who finished among the top 10 at St. Andrews to earn berths in next year’s 145th British Open at Royal Troon, only one name likely couldn’t count on being exempt any other way: Jordan Niebrugge.

England’s Luke Donald, seemingly a fixture in this championship until he had to get in through the Final Qualifying Series, finished one shot out of being top 10, thanks to a bogey at the 17th.

Two other amateurs, American Ollie Schniederjans and England’s Ashley Chesters, were in that group at T-12, one shot shy.

Schniederjans, who was playing his final tournament as an amateur, did birdie the 18th, but it wasn’t enough to make up for the double at 17.
