Youth dominating on PGA Tour

KAPALUA, Hawaii — We trust you’ve heard about this youth movement on the PGA Tour. Been in all the papers, on all the websites and everywhere with Twitter and Instagram, too.

A 22-year-old is the game’s top-ranked player. Guys ranked second and third are 28 and 26, respectively. Just last fall, on consecutive weeks, kids who were 23, 23 and 22 won tournaments. Quite a stretch, but as that trio of players — Emiliano Grillo, Smylie Kaufman and Justin Thomas — sat together for an interview session before the start of the Hyundai Tournament of Champions, what served as an exclamation point to the changing of the eras was their recollection of a golf tournament that first impacted them.
