Youngsters find their way at Dick’s Collegiate Challenge as Georgia Tech rebuilds

KINGSTON SPRINGS, Tenn. – Georgia Tech is the defending team champion of the Dick’s Sporting Goods Collegiate Challenge Cup. The ninth-ranked Yellow Jackets are competing with a nearly-revamped roster this season. Only Vincent Whaley and James Clark returned.

Last year, Georgia Tech men’s coach Bruce Heppler had to replace Bo Andrews, Seth Reeves and Richy Werenski. This year, Palmer Cup teammates Ollie Schniederjans and Anders Albertson have departed.

“I’ve never started over like this,” Heppler said. “To lose all of the guys like this in a two-year span, well, it isn’t easy.”

Georgia Tech stands seventh, 12 strokes behind Virginia after 36 holes of the stroke-play competition at The Golf Club of Tennessee.
